Over time, kitchen towels absorb grease, acquire a musty smell and lose their original whiteness. Regular machine washing rarely removes old stains, and aggressive stain removers often destroy fabric fibers. But there is a proven method that works quickly and carefully even for colored textiles.
Fill a basin with hot water at a temperature of about sixty degrees. Add three tablespoons of baking soda and two tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide to it, stirring thoroughly until completely dissolved. Immerse the soiled towels in the solution until the liquid completely covers the fabric. Leave for forty to fifty minutes, periodically turning the products for even exposure. The water will gradually become cloudy as the active ingredients draw out fatty particles and food coloring. Take out the towels, wring them lightly and rinse under warm running water. If necessary, run items into the washing machine for a short cycle with a minimal amount of powder.
After this treatment, the fibers are cleaned of ingrained fat, the unpleasant odor disappears, and the towels look fresh and soft again. Regular use of this method preserves the quality of textiles without the use of chlorine-containing products and prolonged boiling.
