Cristiano Bergodi explains stinging title-match failure: 'It wouldn't be fair'

The “Red Caps” needed not to lose tonight to extend the suspense until the last stage, but Craiova was too strong. With the blue and whites supported by almost 28,000 people, it was played to one goal and the result was to match.

Anyway, it remains a successful season for U Cluj, which finished the championship in 2nd place and reached the final of the Romanian Cup. As the University of Craiova made the event, the people from Cluj will represent us in the next season of the Europa League, going to enter the 1st preliminary round.

Cristiano Bergodi: “Craiova, the best team. We entered a little bit afraid”

“We got here because of the evolution of the players. I'm happy, we got to the Europa League and that's very, very important, a great result. Today they deserved it, they were better. The best team. It's a shame we went in a little bit scared, to be 2-0 already after 9 minutes is very difficult for any team.

In the Cup they didn't press that much, now they did a big press at the beginning of the match. They were better, you can't say anything. Bravo to them, congratulations Craiova.

We got two goals in 9 minutes. We weren't positioned well there, but that's it, it's not right for us to be discussing mistakes at this point. That's it, we went in a little bit scared, they pressed very well and after 10 minutes you were leading 0-2, then they sent you a player off. Very difficult, the match ended after the first half.

We remain with the Europa League qualification. We went on the road on October 21, we were in 10th place and thanks to the players we reached 2nd place. It's something extraordinarily beautiful for everyone”, said Bergodi in the flash interview on PrimaSport.
