— Based on preliminary information, what we see in the wreck and materials provided by colleagues, it can be assumed that it is a Ukrainian drone, he told journalists.

The drone fell into a field in the village of Samane, where the services are currently working. Due to the discovery, the “Skydas” procedure was launched, used in the event of a potential explosion hazard. The head of the NKVC emphasized that there was no indication that the machine exploded.

He also added that at this stage it is impossible to determine when the drone crossed Lithuanian airspace or when exactly the fall occurred. The services were informed about the incident by residents on Sunday shortly after 19 (18 Polish time).

A drone crashed in Lithuania. This is not the first such case

Lithuanian media reminds that a similar situation occurred in March, when a Ukrainian military drone fell in the Orange region, near the border with Belarus. According to the Lithuanian authorities, it was to be used to attack Russia, but it was pushed off course by Russian electronic warfare systems and flew into Lithuanian territory.

On Sunday morning, the Latvian army also reported a drone that had violated its airspace and then left it. In recent months, similar incidents have been increasingly reported in the Baltic Sea region.
