“I'm glad I changed the face of the previous Olympic cycle”

Rower Ciprian Tudosă (28 years old) is one of the laureates of the CSA Steaua Gala, after in 2025 he won medals in all the important competitions he took part in, World Championships, European Championships and World Cup.
A full and smiling 2025 is over for Ciprian Tudosă with another distinction, received at the CSA Steaua Gala, the club to which he is registered. Together with colleagues from the discipline, but also from other sports, he was awarded at the festivity hosted by the National Military Circle.
2022, the first year after the Olympic Games in Tokyo, where he had won the silver medal in the double frame with Marius Cozmiucwas a difficult one for the rower born in Rădășeni. An injury overturned his path, but in time, with patience and perseverance, he returned to the forefront.
And 2025, coming after the Paris Olympics, looked completely different. Brilliant. No surprising obstacles. Consistent and full of well-deserved rewards. Installed in the stroke position in the four-frame boat, Tudosă and his colleagues, Andrei Mândrilă, Sergiu Bejan and Ștefan Berariu, became the European champion in Plovdiv.
The Lucerne World Cup stage followed, with 1st place, then the world silver, with a last 500m sensational comeback, in the Shanghai races.

Also in China, together with other colleagues, he signed the first gold of the newly introduced sample, that of 8 plus 1 mixed frames. However, how Ciprian Tudosă saw this year and what he wants from 2026 he shared in a discussion for GSP.
– Ciprian, congratulations for the year 2025. How would you describe it in a few words?
– Thank you very much. It was a year 2025, I think it was more beautiful than I would have liked, on absolutely all levels, personally, sportingly. First of all, I'm glad that I somehow managed to change the face of the previous Olympic cycle, and I started this Olympic cycle that will end in Los Angeles right.
– I really thought that the year after Tokyo was not a very smiling one, instead this one had a completely different glow. What was your highlight in 2025?
– Every contest was important in its own way this year. We started it strong with a European title and a European record, then we did a pretty good World Cup. We weren't in our best form, but we managed to have a good contest, I say. Then came the World Championships in China, where we managed to get a silver medal in the 4-frame event, which has not been achieved for a few years, about six years, I think.
– And one more thing…
– We managed to win the first gold medal in the 8 plus 1 mixed event, which I believe will be a very important event in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. In conclusion, a year 2025 full of very beautiful moments and I think somehow it was based a lot on what we built in the Olympic cycle 2021-2024.
Ciprian Tudosă: “I want to be healthy”
– There, in Shanghai, you also fought with other things that don't belong to you, over time. Do you think that at some point it will be a factor that needs to be taken into account more, this adaptation to various conditions that are unpredictable at times?
– I don't think it should be taken too seriously, because we've had competitions like this before. In China we competed in the same way, in Rio, in Brazil, in the same way in America in 2017, again there were some atypical conditions. It matters a lot for each team how they adapt. It was very important for us that we had a very well-knit medical team, that we moved very well on the scene. The first day, I have no reason to lie to you, it was a very big impact for us because it was very, very hot, but basically it was a successful competition for us and a very pleasant experience.
– What do you want for 2026?
– I want, first of all, to be healthy because that is the most important thing, and for 2026 to be the same as 2025 or even better.
