Today, Casemiro (34) played his last game at Old Trafford, 3-2 with Nottingham Forest, before his imminent departure from Manchester United. It was an emotional day for all the camps involved: standing ovations, an open stage, a scenography dedicated to the Brazilian and a farewell speech.

Casemiro arrived in Manchester in the summer of 2022, then bought from Real Madrid for 70 million euros. The 4 years in which he was under contract at Old Trafford were not particularly successful for United, but the defensive midfielder still got under the skin of the supporters with his performances and his declared affection for the club.

Today, on the occasion of the visit of Nottingham Forest, Casemiro played his last match at Old Trafford, considering that in the last leg, the “red devils” will go to Brighton. As such, it was a busy day for him.

On his way out onto the pitch, the Brazilian saw the scenography that the supporters had prepared for him, a canvas with him wearing the Manchester United shirt and the message “até a morte”, meaning “until death”.

Casemiro played 80 minutes, helping United build a 3-2 lead over the Foresters, before Michael Carrick gave him the chance for a standing ovation.

“Thank you very much, thank you to everyone. Thank you to the players, the staff, everyone. The best thing about this club is you, the fans.”
