Petrișor Peiu attacks Ilie Bolojan and Oana Gheorghiu: “Some jokes write themselves”

Petrișor Peiu, the leader of the AUR senators, accuses the Government of presenting as support for the Romanian economy a discussion of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan with some of the largest import networks in Romania.

“Some jokes write themselves, especially when the government wants to embellish its most embarrassing actions. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan meets with the biggest importers in Romania to talk about 'promoting rum producersâni”, says Peiu, on Sunday, in a post on Facebook.
The leader of the AUR senators claims that the meeting between Ilie Bolojan and the leadership of the German Schwarz group would not be related to supporting the local industry.
“Our man from the Victoria Palace met, servilely, with a large German food producer, who sells his products here through the biggest supermarkets in the country and wants to convince us that he did it to promote the Romanian industry. In fact, it's like in the banks at Radio Yerevan: the Germans didn't want to buy anything from Romania, they wanted to sell. And not food, but 'digitalization services'. And not on the free market, but directly to state institutions, including STS”.
Petrișor Peiu continues ironically:
“In the context of the effort made by Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu, promoting the services of the German Schwarz group to public purchasers in the country, we all learned that, on March 10, 2026, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and Schwarz Group CEO, Gerd Chrzanowski, met at the Victoria Palace to talk about 'investment opportunities in the food production sector in Romania, as well as the promotion of Romanian producers on European markets'“.
“It would be funny if there were no crying”
The AUR leader points out that Lidl and Kaufland, companies of the Schwarz group, are among the biggest importers in Romania:
“Well, it would be laughable if it were not something to cry about, but Lidl and Kaufland, the companies from the Schwarz group present in Romania, are among the leading importers in our country: Lidl in 5th place, and Kaufland in 20th place. It is true that one of them, Kaufland, is among the first 500 exporters in Romania. But on the 281st place! To be as clear as possible: the two German chains dominate the local food trade market: depending on the turnover in 2024, Lidl occupied the first place, with approximately 24 billion lei, and Kaufland the second place, with almost 20 billion lei”.
“They have every interest in importing huge amounts of food”
Peiu also says that “anyone entering Lidl and Kaufland stores will see the imported products that make the two companies some of the biggest food importers in the country”:
“I don't know how Oana Gheorghiu would have presented the reality to her head of government, but the companies Lidl and Kaufland have every interest in importing huge quantities of food, because the Schwarz Group owns 23 factories that produce sweets, drinks and pastry products intended especially for the private brands of Lidl and Kaufland“.
We remind you that, on Saturday, Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu rejected the accusations of influence peddling in a message published on Facebook, which appeared shortly after the AUR demanded explanations regarding meetings between state institutions and a German group involved in digitization.
“Public Meeting, Recorded”
One of the main points invoked by Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu refers to the nature of Government meetings, which she describes as transparent and strictly technical.
It states that the meeting of January 19-20, 2026 was an official one, recorded and publicly communicated, attended by institutions such as ADR, MAI, STS, SRI, MApN and the Ministry of Economy, emphasizing that it was not about negotiations or administrative decisions, but about technical discussions between specialists.
“On January 19-20, 2026, a public meeting took place in the government, recorded in RUTI and communicated on my Facebook page, between representatives of the Schwartz group and the Romanian institutions involved in digitization: ADR, MAI, STS, SRI, MAPN, MEDAT. I participated in the opening, for a maximum of one hour. The rest were technical discussions between specialists.
Why the Schwartz group (sic!)? Over 600,000 jobs in Romania and one of the pioneers of the European digital ecosystem, oriented towards digital sovereignty. A project that Romania should be part of”, explained Oana Gheorghiu.
Previously, interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan had declared that he did not see any problem in the discussions of Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu with the representatives of the German Schwarz group, the company that financed her NGO.
