Suspending the sending of troops to Poland is not the end. The US is planning the next step regarding Europe

According to the portal, the Pentagon plans to change the rank of the US Army command based in Wiesbaden, Germany, so that it will be headed by a three-star general, instead of a four-star general. The change is expected to be implemented by mid-summer.
Ministry spokesman Sean Parnell did not confirm this information, claiming that no decision has been made yet.
“The War Department will not speculate or pre-empt potential decisions by Secretary Hegseth or President Trump regarding senior military or frontline positions,” he said.
A thorough reconstruction of the US presence in Europe
Currently, the US Army Europe and Africa Command (USAREUR-AF) is led by four-star General Christopher Donahue, former commander of the famous 82nd Airborne Division, publicly known as the last American soldier photographed leaving Afghanistan.
According to the website, the change is in line with the Trump administration's policy of thoroughly rebuilding the American military presence in Europe, part of which is the recent decision to limit the number of troops in Europe.
The Wiesbaden command oversees military operations in Europe and Africa and serves as a center for supporting NATO allies and coordinating aid to Ukraine. As NOTUS reminds, the Pentagon strengthened this center in 2020 by combining the commands of land forces in Europe and Africa, arguing then – in a signal to Russia and allies – that this reflected the scale of forces that the commander may have to command.
NOTUS is a relatively new portal founded mainly by journalists who left the Washington Post as a result of mass layoffs at this daily.
