The handball players from Rapid, a team with European aspirations, suffered a surprising failure on Saturday evening, in the 21st stage of the “Flower League”, the penultimate one of the current competitive season. Bucharest lost to a difference of 8 goals, score 31-39.

The formation from Giulești continues the series of bad results this season, producing a new disappointment on Saturday, away from Gorj, with Târgu Jiu, a formation that escaped the emotions of the dam at the end of the season.

Clear favorites against Oltence, the rapidistas suffered the biggest humiliation in the club's recent history against the 10th-placed side at the end of a game in which, despite holding the starting line, the hosts led from one end of the game to the other.

Quick, humiliation in the penultimate stage of the season

With no chance to play in the European cups in the coming season, Rapid also played a weak match against Târgu Jiu, prolonging the drought.

The team from Târgu Jiu knew how to stick to the result and even if the second half ended in a tie, 17-17, the clear victory belonged to the hosts, score 39-31.

For the winners, the best scorer was Helena Gilda Simao Paulo, with 9 goals. On the other side, for Rapid, Estevana Polman stood out, with 10 goals.

Following this result, Târgu Jiu reached the 12th position in the ranking, while Rapid remained with 19 points. In the last stage, Rapidul plays at home with Minaur Baia Mare, while Târgu Jiu moves to the field of CSM Bucharest.
