In Russia, the procedure for assigning military pensions to participants in combat operations and counter-terrorism operations has changed. Volunteers will now count one day of participation in battles as three days of service.

As Om1 Novosibirsk writes with reference to a government document, the time of continuous treatment in hospitals for injury, concussion or illness associated with participation in hostilities will also be taken into account.

The new rules apply to the military, as well as to those who served in the internal affairs bodies, the fire service, institutions of the penal system and the National Guard. The time spent performing tasks in volunteer formations will be counted toward their length of service. The changes also affected military prosecutors: they will be credited with the time when service in the prosecutor’s office was suspended due to mobilization or contract service.
