121 Romanian citizens who were in the area of armed conflict in the Near East and their family members arrived on Friday morning, against the background of the conflict between Israel and Iran, being repatriated upon request by the Government of Romania. During the evening, another 37 people arrived in the country.
- UPDATE 22.27: The 37 Romanian citizens, together with members of their families, whom the government had said to be repatriated from the conflict area, arrived during the evening in Romania. “The Romanian citizens and their families have safely arrived in Romania, on board a special aircraft made available by the Ministry of National Defense,” the Government said
According to the Government, through a concerted effort of several state-coordinated state institutions, 158 persons, Romanian citizens and members of their families were evacuated from the Government level, who have requested support to the Romanian authorities.
“121 people have already arrived this morning in Bucharest, and another 37 is safe on the way to the country and will arrive in Romania in the next few hours,” the Government statement said.
The evacuation was made with military aircraft made available by the Ministry of National Defense, which landed “in a country neighboring the armed conflict zone, in full, to embark on the Romanian citizens,” says the Executive.
According to the quoted source, beforehand, the Romanians were transferred from the area of armed conflict with buses on safe routes, through the steps of the diplomatic personnel from the respective region, after communicating with the citizens of the conflict area who expressed their desire.
“They were also taken according to the laws in force, measures to protect the national security by verifying all the persons evacuated at the entrance to the national territory. The evacuation and the repatriation were carried out exclusively on the basis of the financial resources of the Romanian state,” the Government said.
