Poland intercepted a Russian spy plane. The head of the Ministry of National Defense issued a statement

Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Ministry of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Wednesday that Our planes intercepted a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance plane over international waters in the Baltic Sea. The Operational Command of the Armed Forces emphasized that there was no violation of Polish airspace.
“Flights without transponders turned on may pose a threat to other aircraft. Any provocation of this kind will be met with an immediate response from our pilots“- said the head of the Ministry of National Defense.

An entry on this matter on the X platform was also published by the Operational Command of the Branches of the Armed Forces. The announcement specified that the machine was flying in international airspace without a submitted flight plan and with transponders turned off. The Operational Command of the Branches of the Armed Forces emphasized that there was no violation of Polish airspace.
The entry noted that airspace security remains one of the priorities of the Polish Army and that every day, soldiers of the Polish Armed Forces maintain readiness for immediate response, ensuring “effective protection of the Polish sky.”
The command assured that thanks to the high level of training and operational readiness, Polish Army soldiers remain “prepared to act immediately in any situation.”
