The annual patriotic event “Save History,” timed to coincide with the celebration of Victory Day, has ended in Krasnoyarsk. The mayor's office spoke about this.

Soldiers of the City Head's Labor Detachment landscaped the burial sites of Great Patriotic War veterans, home front workers and war children. The work was carried out from April 27 to May 8 at the request of residents – relatives, colleagues, neighbors of veterans. The Trudotryadov workers cleared the graveyards of debris and dry grass, washed the memorial plaques, and painted the fences.

In 2026, all received requests were completed, 21 burials were put in order in five city cemeteries: Zlobinsky, Shinnoy, Nikolaevsky, Bazaysky and Badalyksky. Also this year, the guys washed 9 memorials dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, which included a memorial complex dedicated to home front workers and evacuated factories.

“Participation in the action allows teenagers not only to contribute to the improvement of memorable places, but also to touch history through the fates of specific people, preserving the memory of the feat of the generation of winners,” noted the commander of the Labor Detachment, Roman Vitenko.

This year, one of the applications for cleaning the graves was submitted by Zhanna Voronina. Her repressed grandparents, mother, father and his comrade in arms are buried on Badalyk.

Nikolai Voronin was born in the Kursk region in 1909. He went to the front in the first days of the war as a volunteer. He served in the infantry and was a captain-machine gunner. He ended up in Krasnoyarsk with an evacuation hospital in 1944 after being wounded. Here he met his future wife Nadezhda Voronina.

She studied at the Kiev Military School of Communications, which was evacuated to Krasnoyarsk in August 1941. After graduation, she volunteered for war. She fought in the Stalingrad direction and was a communications operator. While being transferred to a mission, the plane was shot down. After receiving injuries, she ended up in a hospital in Krasnoyarsk, where she was originally from.

Let us remind you that the “Save History” campaign has been taking place for 16 years. In total, during this time, 870 memorable places in Krasnoyarsk were put in order.
