Note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the US Embassy
The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked for clarification regarding Ziobro's stay in the United States. Ministry spokesman Maciej Wewiór told the Polish Press Agency that the US Embassy in Warsaw received a note asking about the legal and factual basis for the former minister's entry into American territory. The head of the National Prosecutor's Office, Dariusz Korneluk, announced that it was for this reason that investigators decided to question Tomasz Sakiewicz as a witness. The former minister is a suspect in these proceedings.
Charges against Ziobro regarding the Justice Fund
According to the prosecutor's office, Ziobro led an organized criminal group from the Ministry of Justice and used his position for illegal activities.. Last year, Polish authorities invalidated his passports. Together with the former deputy minister of justice, PiS MP Marcin Romanowski, he is one of the suspects in the investigation into the Justice Fund.
