Poland and France want to postpone the opening of most negotiation clusters with Ukraine on its accession to the European Union. Radio Liberty reported this on May 12, citing two sources in EU diplomatic circles.
According to the interlocutors, by the end of June the EU countries can only agree on the opening of the first Osnova cluster. At the same time, it is proposed to postpone the opening of the remaining five blocks to the fall.
Ukraine insists on a faster scenario – the start of all six clusters in the coming months.
The decision to open each stage of negotiations must be unanimous among all EU countries, so the position of individual states may slow down the process.
