Unitree GD01. The first manned mech is already on sale, we know the price

This isn't just another humanoid to clean up. The GD01 is a “transformable civilian work vehicle”. In bipedal mode, it walks like a human, and in quadrupedal mode, it moves like a predator. In the demonstration video, the robot breaks a pile of bricks, smoothly changes shape and carries a passenger inside the cabin. The whole thing, including the remote control, weighs about 500 kg. The manufacturer emphasizes: it is a safe, friendly vehicle for civilians – not a military machine, although it looks like something straight out of games like “Titanfall” or “MechWarrior”.
Price? From 650 thousand hole. (approx. 3.9 million yuan) plus taxes. Unitree announces mass production and is already opening a new chapter – after the success of humanoids (the company is number 1 in the world in G1 deliveries), it is entering the “manned mech” segment.
What potential does GD01 have?
A robot of this type can have many applications, but the most questionable thing here is the fact that it is not an autonomous machine, but a transporter for people. Thanks to this, it can be used as a personal transporter in difficult terrain, an entertainment attraction, a tool for exploration or even… extreme mobility for people with disabilities. I won't be surprised if – like Edward Warchocki – he is also used by wealthy influencers.

Unitree sees it as an element of everyday life – safe, transformable and simply “cool”. The company has just opened a stationary store in Beijing, launched a robot application store and is preparing for an IPO. And according to the manufacturer, GD01 is no longer a prototype – it is a product ready for sale.
What do Internet users write?
The thread about GD01 on Reddit exploded with enthusiasm, memes and reflections typical of the singularity community:
“It's Titanfall on steroids”
“Why doesn't the US do fun things like this anymore?”
“It's quite an expensive wheelchair.”
There are also technical questions: why doesn't he crouch, why is the entrance so awkward?

Unitree GD01 is not just a new robot. This is a signal that the era of manned mechs is just starting off the production line – and that the Chinese company that gave the world Edward Warchocki has no intention of slowing down.
