Severe weather hit several areas of the country on May 12, where violent storms brought hail, torrential rain and strong gusts of wind. In some localities, agricultural crops were affected in just a few minutes, and in cities drivers had difficulties in traffic due to massive accumulations of water.
In Oltenia, torrential rain quickly turned to hail, and chunks of ice destroyed entire gardens and newly emerged spring crops. In Gorj County, the storm was short but strong enough to knock down young plants and cause damage to households.
Several hours after the storm, significant amounts of hail could still be seen collected in these protective systems in some households.
In Tulcea, after a heavy rain, several streets in the city were flooded, and the water quickly accumulated on the road.
In Constanța county, code orange made its effects felt, and the sky suddenly darkened in several localities by the sea. Dense clouds covered the coastline, and hail fell in some areas.
