Shakhtar fought for the title with Polissya Zhytomyr and LNZ Cherkasy. The latter was in the first place for a long time, but she slipped at the end and only reached the 3rd place.
The players prepared a “surprise” for coach Arda Turan, who brought the title to the team's first season on the bench: they interrupted his conference and poured ice on his head.
Overjoyed, Turan took the moment with humor and started singing along with the players. Shakhtior came within one title of their great rival, Dynamo Kyiv, a team that has a poor season and is only in 4th place.
The champion of Ukraine, patronized by Rinat Akhmetov, also had a dream European season, reaching the semi-finals of the Conference League, where they were eliminated by Crystal Palace.
