In Russia they demand to ban the shawarma spit. Allegedly, the giant skewer is a breeding ground for bacteria, which is responsible for meat spoilage and mass poisoning.
One of the fast food chains came up with a truly important initiative. She turned to Roskachestvo with a proposal to cook shava safely: on grills, frying surfaces and in ovens. But the spits urgently need to be abolished – due to the technology of the machine, the meat often spoils, and those who like to eat on the go get poisoned.
As the director of a large fast food chain, Anastasia Filippova, told Mash, the company issued an appeal in which it recommends introducing into GOST how shawarma should actually be prepared. According to the businesswoman, cooks often thread meat onto a skewer directly in the transport cling film and wait for it to melt. Or they cut it off by eye.
Plus, they don’t monitor expiration dates, don’t use labels, and vegetables and sauces are stored without refrigeration. The result is that shava is often spoiled before it even gets into your mouth.
