“May 10 – Romania's National Independence Day. It is the date when Romania took a decisive step: it assumed, unequivocally, the status of an independent state. In 1877, through the courage and vision of leaders such as Mihail Kogălniceanu and Charles IRomania proclaimed its independence and demonstrated, on the battlefield, that freedom is earned and defended. That's when the foundations of a modern and functional state were laid.” transmitted Ilie Bolojan.
The official emphasized that, currently, the country's challenges are related to the efficiency of the institutions and the functioning of the public administration.
“Today, the challenge is a better functioning of institutions and administration, efficient and fair for all its citizens. Romania needs deep reforms in administration, economy and public services. The independence won then obliges us today to responsibility and to continue modernizing the state, through solid institutions, reducing waste and regaining the trust of citizens”the interim prime minister also stated.
At the end of the message, Ilie Bolojan called for the responsibility of the political class and the continuation of the state reform process.
“Just as the first generation of leaders of modern Romania changed the destiny of the country, we too have the duty to take Romania forward, through work, seriousness and correct decisions. May God protect our country! Happy birthday, Romania!”, sent Bolojan.
