Heinz baby food is leaving Russia. Porridges and mixtures are awaiting rebranding and a new name – Gipopo. A domestic company received copyrights to the legendary “hippopotamus”.
According to Mash, the products will be produced in August at factories in Georgievsk and Ivanovo. The former Heinz Georgievsk plant was renamed the Georgievsk baby food plant last week.
The Aqua-Life company, which is part of Chernogolovka, bought baby food in March. One of the terms of the deal is the rights to the “behemoth” from packaging that was produced before 2020. The parties decided to produce Heinz for another six months while the rebranding took place. In September, Gipopo will enter the market, and the old brand will be sold simultaneously with the “hippopotamus” for the first time, then Heinz will disappear completely.
Gipopo plans to keep its top line and favorite flavors and expand – it will release snacks, ready-made foods for children and drinks. Ketchup and sauces remain in Russia – they are not in danger of rebranding. They will continue to be produced in Otradny, Leningrad region.
