Due to the entry into force on August 29, American customs duties, Poczta Polska temporarily suspends taking shipments to the USA containing goods – the operator said on Friday. It will be possible to send, among others correspondence and documents.
According to the message of Poczta Polska, the regulation of the American president “suspending the exemption from de minimis for all countries” affects the entire European Union, and in its consequences from August 25, Poczta Polska “is forced (…) temporarily limit the reception of shipments containing goods, directed to the United States.”
The restriction is to apply to shipments with goods, including postal and letter shipments with a declared value, unregistered and registered letter shipments, Global Express and EMS shipments. It will be possible to send unregistered and registered letter -not -able goods, as only correspondence and documents will be allowed. You will also be able to send EMS parcels with documents.

The post office reported that many other postal administrations in Europe introduced similar restrictions. She quoted the position of Posteurop, which represents European postal operators. It shows that this measure will have a significant impact on all postal companies around the world and their customers sending shipments via postal networks to the US post (USPS).
“Key issues and processes, such as customs consumption, collected data and cooperation with the Customs Service and the Protection of the US borders, have not yet been clearly defined. Until now, goods with a value of up to USD 800 have been exempt from the duties. From August 29, each parcel with the goods will be subject to customs obligation in the US regardless of its value and country of posting,” he said, cited in the post office.
On August 21, the EU and USA statement was agreed on the customs rate. It assumes that most of the goods imported from the community are to be covered by 15 %. customs stake. The higher duties will include, among others Alcohols, and lower – generic drugs, aircraft and their parts.
The Polish operator declared that he monitors the situation on an ongoing basis and when it is possible, he would resume accepting shipments with goods to the USA.
