It is an incident in the space on the Gulf of Finnish, near Porvoo (about several dozen km east of Helsinki), with the participation of Russian aircraft, which the Finnish Ministry of Defense announced on Friday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet officially transferred a message in this matter, but to take up diplomatic means, i.e. the call of the head of the Russian institution in Helsinki, the ministry confirmed on Sunday evening the main Finnish media, including national broadcaster YLE and Helsingin Sanomat.
According to the head of the Ministry of Defense Antti Hakkanen, the matter is treated “seriously”. The services have not yet provided more detailed information about which Russian military aircraft are about. The investigation is run by the Border Guard.
The last time the Russians violated Finland at the beginning of February. At that time, the Russian government plane stayed in a Finnish space for several minutes, and the incident took place in the western part of the bay, near Hanko (about 130 km from Helsinki)
