A 12-year-old girl was attacked with a sharp object, possibly a screwdriver, on a street in Alba Iulia. His father was also injured. The aggressor, a 45-year-old man from the municipality, was detained for 24 hours on charges of attempted murder and assault or other violence. Investigators determined that there were older conflicts between the aggressor and the girl's family.

The incident happened on Friday, May 8, around 1:40 p.m. The minor's father alerted the authorities by calling 112, announcing that his daughter had been assaulted while he was on the street.
The girl was allegedly hit in the back area, most likely with a screwdriver. A medical team intervened on the scene and gave her first aid, after which the minor was urgently transported to the hospital.
According to representatives of the Alba Iulia County Hospital, quoted by ziarulunirea.ro, the child suffered multiple injuries, including cranio-cerebral trauma, a stab wound in the right lumbar area, right pneumothorax and other traumas caused by physical aggression. She was admitted to the surgical ward for specialized care.
Investigators determined that there were older conflicts between the aggressor and the girl's family, and the attack would have taken place against the background of these misunderstandings.
Also, during the incident, the man allegedly assaulted the minor's father, aged 50, causing him injuries that required between 8 and 10 days of medical care.
“Following the evidence administered and the activities carried out by the case prosecutor and, on the basis of delegation, by the police officers of the Alba Criminal Investigation Service and the Alba Iulia Municipality Police, it emerged that, on May 8, 2026, the 45-year-old man from the municipality of Alba Iulia, based on earlier misunderstandings that he had with the family of a 12-year-old minor, would physically assaulted her, with a sharp object, in the back area, and physically assaulted her 50-year-old father, causing him bodily injuries”. the investigators stated.
After committing the act, the suspect ran away from the scene of the incident, but he was identified by the police shortly after and taken for questioning. The prosecutor from the Public Prosecutor's Office attached to the Alba Court ordered his detention for 24 hours, investigations are ongoing to establish all the circumstances.
