In Kansk, a 10-year-old schoolgirl transferred over 500 thousand rubles to scammers, thinking that she was communicating with a popular gaming blogger. The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region spoke about this.

The police found out that the attacker contacted the girl through an online game popular among children in the messenger and congratulated her on a prize of 20 thousand rubles. To receive the award, it was necessary to complete a number of tasks, the result of which were transfers made by the child from the mother’s accounts.

The minor believed that she was simply discussing in-game purchases and the creation of virtual items and heroes with a popular blogger. But in fact, she provided the fraudster with the opportunity to take possession of family savings in the amount of more than 500 thousand rubles.

Based on this fact, a criminal case was opened under Part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Fraud”, an investigation is currently underway.

On the first day of school after the autumn holidays, police conducted preventive conversations with schoolchildren on the topic of fraud. PDN inspectors and local police commissioners met with students in grades 1-11 of the Krasnomayakovskaya school, talked about the incident and warned against deception in Internet video games.

“The children were explained how the transfer of bank card details and SMS codes to unknown persons, as well as unauthorized transfers from adult accounts, could result,” law enforcement officers said.

Law enforcement officers added that explanatory work with the younger generation will continue within the framework of the School of Information Security.
