The body of a 12-year-old girl was recovered from the rubble in Kyiv, and at least 20 more people are still missing.

From under the rubble of a house in the Darnitsky district, destroyed by an attack by the aggressor country Russia on the night of May 14, rescuers recovered the body of a 12-year-old child. The mayor of the city, Vitaliy Klitschko, announced this.

This brings the death toll to five.

“The search and rescue operation continues,” Klitschko added.

According to the State Emergency Service, there is now information about at least 20 missing people.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Igor Klimenko, said that rescuers were looking for more than 10 people who may be under the rubble of a nine-story building. Six canine teams have been involved.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said about 40 other people in the capital were injured. As a result of massive Russian attacks, seven people were injured in the Kyiv region, 28 in Kharkov, and two more in the Odessa region. In total, 180 objects were damaged across the country, more than 50 of which were ordinary residential buildings, the head of state noted.

He also emphasized that a significant number of missiles and drones that the Russian army launched into Ukraine were shot down. The overall percentage of those shot down is more than 93%.

“Of course, we need higher. And, of course, the most difficult thing is to defend against ballistics,” Zelensky added.

The president also emphasized that “there will be a fair response to all these attacks.”

“And we need to put pressure on Moscow so that they feel the consequences of their terror there. It is important that there are world sanctions against Russia. Russia’s responsibility for the war and our sanctions pressure must work one hundred percent. And it is also very important that the world does not remain silent about this terror and is with Ukraine,” he added.
