The scenario circulated by the UDMR leader after the discussion with Nicușor Dan. “Probably that man cannot come from either the PSD or the PNL”

Kelemen Hunor talked Thursday morning with President Nicușor Dan, to whom he says he conveyed “about what the solutions are” for the formation of a new Government from the point of view of the UDMR. “There are no miraculous solutions,” he stated in an interview for PRO TV News.
The UDMR leader believes that “in two or three weeks at the most we must have a government”.
“A government can be formed, there is no such thing as not being possible. After all, in 2024, the vote of the citizens gave this parliament and it is a responsibility for every deputy, for every senator, for every party, especially for those who assumed the government last year and in 2024, to find a solution”, added Kelemen Hunor.
Kelemen Hunor is the second leader to participate in the informal consultations convened by President Nicușor Dan. The discussions were opened on Wednesday at the Cotroceni Palace with the USR leader, Dominic Fritz.
It is expected that the other two leaders of the broken coalition, Sorin Grindeanu and Ilie Bolojan, will go to Cotroceni these days.
UDMR's preferred scenario, “rebuilding the coalition”
Kelemen Hunor said that the Union would prefer to restore the former coalition, a scenario in which the future prime minister “cannot come either from the PSD or from the PNL”.
“The first option for us is to restore the coalition. Of course, we need a man who can be accepted by everyone, and by the PNL, and by the PSD, and by us, and by those from the USR, and probably that man cannot come either from the PSD or from the PNL, because then the problem arises for the other party how they accept after this affair (…). It was a political affair, you brought down a government without saying anything, without having a solution”, said the UDMR leader.
He believes that Romania has “several huge problems”, one of them being the one related to the fulfillment of the PNRR milestones.
“If we don't move, we have 116 or 117 days until the PNRR closes, we lose a lot of money, money that will be missing from the Romanian Treasury and from the development projects. For this, someone has to answer, because we are talking about billions”, emphasized Kelemen Hunor.
The UDMR leader also mentioned Romania's accession to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which he said should materialize “this year”, and the budget deficit, “which must be kept under control”.
“If we fail to find a solution, then we will be thrown into the junk and this is the biggest danger, with the creditors. The perception is very bad anyway, what happened these days shows an unstable Romania”, he warned.
