Searches in Bucharest and three counties: dozens of STB drivers, suspected of having stolen fuel and auto parts from the bus depot

On Thursday, the policemen from the Public Transport Police Brigade carried out 20 searches in Bucharest and in the counties of Ilfov, Giurgiu and Dâmbovița, in a criminal case regarding the commission of the crime of qualified theft.

According to the Capital Police, the investigation concerns the embezzlement of significant amounts of fuel and goods from the assets of a public transport company.
“The activities were carried out following the investigations carried out in a case aimed at the embezzlement of significant quantities of fuel and goods from the assets of a public transport company. From the data and evidence administered in the case, it was reasonable to assume that several employees of the respective company, aged between 35 and 55, had repeatedly embezzled fuel and car parts from the premises of a bus depot, thus damaging the commercial company”. reports the Capital Police.
Sources from the investigation claim that the file concerns 21 drivers from the North Bus Station of Societatea de Transport București, who would have repeatedly stolen large quantities of diesel, as well as car parts.
The thefts would have taken place over a longer period of time, and the damage is to be determined following further investigations.
Following the searches, several items of interest were discovered and seized, including auto parts and over a ton of liquid that appears to be diesel.
The targeted persons are to be interviewed by the police.
The action benefited from the support of fighters from the Service for Special Actions and gendarmes from the General Directorate of Gendarmerie of the Municipality of Bucharest.
The investigations are continued under the coordination of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Court of District 1, under the aspect of committing the crime of qualified theft.
