Tudorel Stoica and Ladislau Boloni, legends of Romanian football and members of the team with which Steaua won the European Champions Cup in 1986, were in Ghencea and gave statements at the 40th anniversary of the unique performance.
Tudorel Stoica, the leader of that generation, was very moved by his return to Ghencea on this occasion. He said again what was the secret with which Steaua became the champion of Europe.

“An emotional evening for us and for the spectators who came in quite large numbers. We are glad that these wonderful people did not forget us. Unfortunately, it will be the last European cup won by a Romanian team. Hope dies last, so we hope to recover.
I would like to note that the performance did not stop there: we played a final and a semi-final, an extraordinary thing for Romanian football. We were a family, friends between us, we didn't hate each other, nobody wanted to be a leader. Thanks to Mr. Iena, who is shown here in Ghencea, we managed to make a great performance.
I would like Steaua to have the right to promotion, to promote, and if it does, to manage to maintain itself and practice spectacular football, as we practiced. That's why we were such a beloved team and we performed. Ladislau Boloni: “It's a sad anniversary if I think about Duckadam, about Emi”
Boloni said he was sad because Helmuth Duckadam and Emeric Ienei are no longer alive and could not be present in Ghencea.
“It's a sad anniversary when I think of Duckadam, nea Emi and the others who did their duty. They all gave something exceptional for the team, for the supporters, for the country. The intelligence of the game was our main strength.
