By 10:00 local time (0700 GMT), Russian forces had committed 1,820 ceasefire violations, Zelenskiy said, citing shelling, attempted attacks, airstrikes and the use of drones.
Russia continued its attacks against Ukraine on Wednesday, rejecting a ceasefire proposed by Kiev and ignoring efforts to save “lives” human beings, accused the Ukrainian president, quoted by AFP, writes Agerpres.
“Russia's choice is a clear rejection of a truce and saving lives.”he insisted, threatening a reply “reciprocal”.
“Based on the evening reports from the army and our intelligence services, we will decide on our future actions”added the leader from Kyiv on the X network.
At the same time, the Ministry of Defense in Moscow announced the establishment of a unilateral truce in the conflict with Ukraine, valid on May 8 and 9, 2026, on the occasion of the Victory Day in the Second World War.
According to the statement sent on the MAX messaging app, supported by the Russian state, the decision belongs to President Vladimir Putin, the supreme commander of the armed forces of the Russian Federation. Moscow claims that the temporary cessation of hostilities is related to the victory ceremonies over Nazi Germany, including the military parade held in Red Square.
“A ceasefire will be declared on May 8-9, 2026. We expect the Ukrainian side to follow suit,” the Ministry of Defense in Moscow reported.
In the same message, Moscow also issued a stern warning to Kiev, saying any attempt to disrupt the festivities could attract military retaliation.
“If the Kiev regime tries to disrupt the Victory Day celebration, the Russian armed forces will respond with a massive missile attack on the center of Kiev,” it is stated in the ministry's press release.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukrainian drones could target the May 9 parade in Moscow, one of the important events organized annually by the Kremlin.
