Gianni Infantino (56), the president of the International Football Federation, defends the price of tickets for this year's World Cup, which will be played in the United States of America, Mexico and Canada.
According to the head of world football, FIFA had to comply with American laws, which allow tickets to be resold at a much higher price than the original one.
Gianni Infantino commented on ticket prices for the World Cup final: “I'll personally bring you a hot dog and a coke”
FIFA is facing criticism from many quarters in this regard, after four tickets for the July final in New York recently emerged at a value of almost $2.3 million apiece.
“First of all, that ticket has no such value, even if it appeared on the secondary ticket market. If anyone buys a ticket for that amount, I'll personally bring them a hot dog and a coke to make it a great experience. We have to simply look at the market,” said Infantino, quoted by the AFP agency.
Many point to a significant increase compared to the previous World Cup in 2022, played in Qatar. For the final game, the most expensive ticket was worth about $1,600, now it's about $11,000. According to Infantino, FIFA received 500 million requests for tickets.
“At a professional match of a certain level, in the United States of America you can't go under $300. This is the World Cup,” added the FIFA president.
