“Before I knew it, I was obsessed with the Russians.” Kidman said she grew up reading Russian literature

Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman admires Russian writers Leo Tolstoy and Fyodor Dostoevsky. She stated this during a conversation with the hosts of the YouTube podcast Las Culturistas.

“I grew up reading Russian literature. I was obsessed with Russians. I had one of those lists of a hundred books to read. I started with Dostoevsky, and then I thought, 'oh, wait,' and I just kept reading Dostoevsky. Then I moved on to Tolstoy and before I knew it, I was obsessed with Russians,” she said breathily.

Kidman also recalled her trip to the aggressor country of the Russian Federation.

“I went to St. Petersburg and saw all the places around which Tolstoy built War and Peace. So that was, perhaps, the beginning of my artistic base – the Russians,” she added.

In April, Ukrainian volunteer and public figure Sergei Prytula spoke out about Russian cultural expansion.

Pritula recalled that Russian cultural expansion has not disappeared anywhere and that in Europe, in particular, Russian writers Dostoevsky and Boris Pasternak are still admired.

“A well-fed, contented, pacifist Europe to this day lives by the idea that Russia is Dostoevsky, Pasternak, the Bolshoi Theater. And they don’t understand that this is Russia for export. And the real Russia is these ghouls who came to Ukraine to slaughter us, kill us, destroy us, wipe us off the face of the earth,” he said. “Please excuse your crap Dostoevsky, if a generation, and more than one, of murderers and rapists grew up on him.”
