The Ukrainian Defense Forces are increasing their defense capabilities in the southwestern direction, in particular near the temporarily occupied Transnistria. The monitoring service DeepState, which cooperates with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, announced this on May 4 in Telegram.
DeepState notes that the work is being carried out taking into account potential risks in this area, as well as due to the presence of the Russian military contingent in Transnistria.
According to the service, a multi-level fortification system is being deployed in the region, engineering barriers are being created and a network of rolling roads is being developed. This should increase the mobility of Ukrainian units and provide the ability to quickly transfer forces if necessary.
“Particular attention is paid to checking combat readiness. The command inspects units, assesses their support, staffing and the state of fortifications. The ability to carry out tasks in conditions of a possible escalation is also analyzed,” DeepState reports.
According to the service, the region is also checking the medical component – the readiness of hospitals and evacuation systems for a potential “increase in load.”
“The main goal of these events is to increase resilience and ensure that the defense forces are ready for any development of events. The Ukrainian command emphasizes: the situation is under control, but preparations are being proactive,” DeepState concluded.
