
A forest fire broke out in the Mukachevo region, which has not yet been contained. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations in the Transcarpathian region on Facebook.
“On May 5 at 15.27, the Rescue Service received a message about a fire in the forest floor in the Kilitsa tract near the village of Volovets, Mukachevo region. The State Emergency Service of Transcarpathia involved 44 rescuers and 13 units of equipment in extinguishing the fire,” the emergency response team said in a statement.
According to preliminary data from the State Emergency Service, the fire area was approximately 15 hectares.
Subsequently, Ukrainian journalist Vitaly Glagola reported that the fire could have spread to 75 hectares, publishing new large-scale footage.
As of 21.00, according to his information, the forest near Volovets continues to burn.
“The photos from subscribers show fires that have not yet been eliminated. An emergency response headquarters has been created on the spot,” the journalist wrote.
Work to extinguish the fire continues.
