They also add that the platform promotes disinformation. “Therefore, across party lines, we have decided to no longer maintain our account,” the parties declared under the hashtag #WirVerlassenX (Polish: #We leaveX).
The withdrawal covers both official party accounts and the profiles of parliamentary clubs in the Bundestag. Parties declare that they still want to be present in the digital space, pointing to alternatives such as Instagram or BlueSky. However, individual members have the opportunity to decide for themselves whether they will remain active on X.
According to Table.Media, the initiative came mainly from the Greens' political manager, Pegah Edalatian. In her opinion, X is “a gateway to disinformation and an aggressive culture of debate.” Observers also pay attention to changes introduced by Musk: such as the “Community Notes” system, which allows users to mark entries together and correct potentially false information.
