Charles Leclerc (28, Ferrari) and Max Verstappen (28, Red Bull Racing) received penalties of 20 and 5 seconds respectively, after the conclusion of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Miami. The Dutch driver remained in 5th position in the race standings, while the Monegasque dropped to 8th.
On Sunday, May 3, in Miami, Kimi Antonelli (19 years old, Mercedes) achieved his third consecutive victory of the season, reaping the benefits of his pole position once again. The Italian was followed by the two McLaren drivers, Lando Norris, the reigning champion, and Oscar Piastri.

It was another nightmare race for Ferrari, because Charles Leclerc, although he spent a good amount of time on the podium, he was overtaken on the last lap by Piastri, after which he lost control, hit the parapet and finished in 6th position.
What's more, after the race was completed, he was penalized with a 20-second penalty for cutting multiple corners to reach the finish line. The judges considered that Leclerc had gained an advantage by leaving the track.
“I decided that the fact that he had to cut the corners meant that he gained an advantage by leaving the track. The fact that he had a mechanical problem is not a reason to justify this,” the referees said in a statement.
After the 20-second penalty, Leclerc dropped to 8th place, being overtaken by Lewis Hamilton, his Ferrari colleague, and Franco Colapinto (Alpine).
Max Verstappen, the four-time world champion, was also given a 5-second penaltybecause he cut the exit line from the pits, but the penalty did not affect his position in the ranking. The Red Bull Racing driver remained in 5th place.
