More than 90% of employers already use automated systems to screen applications, and 88% of companies use AI to initially screen candidates. Therefore, more and more often, resumes are first looked at not by the recruiter, but by the system.
According to Tatyana Sezemina, head of the “AI Agent Platform” of the T1 AI direction (IT holding T1)the resume must be written in such a way that it is understandable to both the algorithm and the person.
“The AI agent compares the resume with the vacancy, looking at experience, skills, positions, tools and matches with the requirements. Therefore, it is important for the candidate not to write in general terms, but to directly explain what exactly he did, what systems he worked with and what results he achieved. Specific examples from your work should be given according to the method STAR: situation, task, action, result. For example, instead of „I can analyze data“ you can write: „In project X identified problem Y and proposed a solution that helped increase efficiency by Z%“. Numbers and facts are very important for the algorithm to evaluate“, the expert explained.
In order for your resume to pass the initial selection better, it should be slightly adapted for each vacancy. There is no need to rewrite the entire document, but it is important to check the wording: if the vacancy specifies specific tools, tasks or industry experience, they should be called in the same understandable words. For example, don't hide “1C» inside the general description “worked with accounting systems»do not replace “CRM» phrase “maintained a client base»and rare abbreviations are better deciphered.
The automatic filter may be less able to read resumes with a non-standard structure, complex infographics, tables and design blocks. Creative section names can also get in the way: “my way» instead of “experience» or “how am I useful?» instead of “skills» look alive to humans, but are not always clear to the system.
At the same time, it is not worth writing a resume only for AI. Typing keywords without real experience may help you pass the filter, but will later raise questions from the recruiter. It is better to rely on short formulations, specific tasks and results in numbers.
