Leaks from manufacturers of Apple smartphone accessories indicate that the iPhone 18 Pro is to be launched in… four colors: light blue, dark cherry, dark gray and silver. The names differ slightly in different sources – burgundy or almost black graphite also appears – but the direction itself is similar: Apple is to test a more subdued palette than in the current generation.
It is supposed to be the most distinctive variant dark cherrydescribed as a color closer to wine than the bright red found in some earlier iPhones. It is this shade that looks like the main candidate for the role today new main color of the Pro series. For years, Apple has been using one characteristic variant as the simplest hallmark of the new generation – so necessary in the case of generations such as the iPhone 18 Pro, which are unlikely to bring any major revolutions.
The short life of fashionable orange
In this context, one more thing draws attention: leaks indicate that Apple won't keep the orange variant from the iPhone 17 Pro, even though the color was supposed to be well received in some markets, including China. It was also pointed out by analysts as one of the factors that made this model so popular – the completely new design and brightness brought a breath of freshness that attracted early buyers. In the new generation of iPhone Pro, Apple returns to a more conservative color palette, easier to fit into the image of a “more expensive” and more elegant model.

This may also have a more practical dimension. In the current generation of iPhones, the problem with the anodized finish of the aluminum housing was most visible on the most saturated versions.. Tests showed that the layer could chip off on sharp edges, revealing the lighter metal underneath. The more expressive the color, the more visible this effect was.
For now, we are only talking about leaks, so a lot may change before the premiere. However, if this set is confirmed, Apple will show that even without a major design change, it can change the character of the entire series with a single detail. This detail will again be colors.
