Russian drone entered Romanian airspace at Chilia / F-16 planes lifted from the ground

New air attacks by Russia on the border with Romania triggered, on Saturday, the alert in Tulcea county, after a drone briefly entered the national airspace in Chilia, MApN announces. RO-ALERT messages were sent to the residents of the north of Tulcea county.

The Ministry of National Defense (MApN) announced that, on the morning of Saturday, May 2, the Russian army resumed bombing the civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, right next to the river border with Romania.

The radars of the Romanian army detected a group of 20 drones heading towards the Ukrainian port of Ismail.

At around 02:00, two F-16 planes in the service of the Air Police took off urgently from the 86th Air Base in Fetești.

Simultaneously, the National Military Command Center notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), and a RO-ALERT message was sent for the north of Tulcea county at 02:03.

“The ground radars detected the penetration of a drone, for a short time, in the national airspace, in the Chilia area, continuing its evolution towards Ismail”, stated MApN.

During the attack, numerous explosions were reported on the Ukrainian bank of the Danube, with the air alert being lifted at 02:50.

The ministry emphasized that it maintains permanent contact with the allied structures, informing them in real time about the evolution of the situation.
