Marjorie Taylor Greene, a former Republican congresswoman from Georgia, denounced the attack on Iran as a betrayal of Donald Trump's MAGA movement in a series of social media posts on Saturday, British newspaper The Guardian reported.

“I did not campaign for this. I did not donate money for this. I did not vote for this, in the election or in Congress. It is heartbreaking and tragic. And how many more innocents will die? What will happen to our own military? This is not what we thought MAGA would be. Shame!” Greene wrote in a post, which included a video of a destroyed school where dozens of children were killed in an attack, according to authorities Iranian.

Greene, who split with the president and resigned over his support for a law that would have required the Justice Department to release investigative files on Jeffrey Epstein, the former sex offender with whom Trump dated for nearly two decades, also posted a longer statement denouncing the attack on X, illustrated with a screenshot of a 2024 Republican campaign plea urging voters to “vote the pro-peace ticket. Vote Trump-Vance.”

There are 93 million people in Iran, let them free themselves

Above the image of the two men he campaigned for, Greene wrote:

“I said, 'No more foreign wars, no more regime change!' I said it at every rally, in every speech. Trump, Vance, basically the entire administration campaigned on this and promised to put America first and make America great again. My generation has been let down, abused and used by our government our entire adult lives and our children's generation is literally being abandoned. Thousands upon thousands of Americans of my generation have been killed and wounded in endless and senseless foreign wars, and we have said, “I'm done.” But we are freeing the Iranian people. Please. There are 93 million people in Iran, let them free themselves. But Iran is on the verge of having nuclear weapons. Yes, sure. We've been fed this story for decades, and Trump told us all that his bombings last summer completely destroyed everything. It's always a lie and always America comes last. But this time it feels like the worst betrayal since it's coming from the very man and administration we all thought were different and said “done.”
