He broke the Mercedes barrier! Lando Norris took pole position for the Miami sprint race

Reigning Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris took pole position in qualifying for the Miami sprint race.

  • The sprint race in Miami will take place tonight, from 18:45, and will be broadcast on Antena 3 and the Antena Play platform. The Grand Prix will be on Sunday, from 22:50.

The McLaren driver set the fastest time in the Q3 qualifying session, being the only one to complete a lap in under one minute and 28 seconds. His time was 1:27.869. Norris became the first driver to break the Mercedes barrier in qualifying this season, with the world champion taking pole position for the first time in 2026.

More than two-tenths of a second slower than the Brit was overall leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli, driving a Mercedes, while third in sprint qualifying was Oscar Piastri, in another McLaren.

Alongside the Australian on the second row of the grid will be Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, followed on the grid by Max Verstappen in his Red Bull and George Russell in his Mercedes.

Lewis Hamilton, at the wheel of Ferrari, achieved the seventh time, and behind him are the two Alpines of Franco Colapinto and Pierre Gasly, between whom Isack Hadjar from Red Bull was interposed.

Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg remained outside the Top 10 in Audis, then Oli Berman from Haas, followed by the Williams of Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz, according to sportal.rs.

Then follow the two Racing Bulls led by Arvid Lindblad and Liam Lawson, Esteban Ocon in Haas, and the last four positions were the drivers from Cadillac and Aston Martin – Sergio Perez, Valtteri Bottas, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, in order.
