The Iranian authorities want to reach an agreement and have taken great steps, but I am not satisfied with their proposals, US President Donald Trump said on Friday. He admitted that he may never make a deal with Iran and may instead “finish off” Iran.

“They want to make an agreement, but I'm not satisfied,” Trump said during a conversation with reporters before leaving for Florida.

The president said he was negotiating with Iran by phone and Iran had “made great steps” toward a deal, but added he was “not sure they will ever reach an agreement.” He also emphasized again that Iranians can't decide who their leader is and that there are three or four different groups claiming the right to rule.

Their management is very chaotic, they argue a lot with each other. They come back to me, one says one thing, another says another, he reported.

Trump said he could decide to end the war and it would be a “major victory”but he will not do it because he wants further negotiations. When asked what options the army presented to him, he replied that he has the choice of “blow them all to hell and finish them off once and for all” or make peace. He added that from a human point of view, he prefers the latter option.

The president also referred to the issue of consent required by Congress for further hostilities after 60 days of war. Trump said that the requirements contained in the War Powers Resolution of 1973 were unconstitutional and added, contrary to the truth, that no one had implemented these requirements before. Meanwhile, the White House informed Congress on Thursday that it considers military operations to have ended since the April 8 ceasefire with Iran.
