Russia hit Ukraine with a massive daytime drone strike that reached as far as Ternopil

Russia launched more than 400 drones over Ukraine in an attack launched during the day on Friday, injuring 10 people in the western city of Ternopil, Ukrainian officials said, cited by Reuters.
Ukraine's Air Force reported that Russia attacked the country with 409 drones between 08:00 and 15:30 local time (05:00–12:30 GMT). Air defense units shot down or neutralized 388 of them in the north, south, center and west of the country, according to the same source.
Earlier in the day, Kiev announced that Russia had sent 210 drones over Ukraine in a night attack.
Since the start of the war more than four years ago, Russia has mainly carried out massive nighttime drone and missile attacks. In recent weeks, it has repeatedly launched hundreds of drones and missiles during the day as well, setting a record on the 24th for the number of drones used in such an attack.
Serhii Nadal, the mayor of Ternopil, located about 150–200 km from the border with Poland, said 10 people were injured in the attack that targeted industrial and infrastructure facilities.
He added in a message published on Telegram that the attack also caused blackouts in some areas and that more than 50 drones were involved in the attack on the city.
Many of the drones launched by the Russians targeted central Ukraine
The governor of the Cherkassy region in central Ukraine announced that 19 drones were shot down above it, and that the attack damaged a kindergarten, a school, seven private homes and a power line.
The local governor of Vinnytsia, another region in central Ukraine, announced that a woman was injured in the attack and that a building was completely destroyed.
Near the port city of Odesa, which had also been targeted in the overnight attack, another daytime attack damaged the roof of a shopping center and caused a fire.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian drones struck Russia's Black Sea port of Tuapse for the fourth time in 16 days on Friday as authorities grapple with a growing environmental disaster caused by clouds of toxic black smoke and oil spills into the sea.
