A strong Russia threatens the security of all of Europe, so it is in Poland's interests to weaken the Russian state. This opinion was expressed by the President of Poland in 2015–2025, Andrzej Duda, in an interview with the founder of the GORDON publication, Dmitry Gordon.
“As many times Russia was strong, the same number of times Poland and other countries in our part of Europe were under threat. The same number of times we were attacked. This is the history of the last 500 years,” he emphasized.
During this period, there was a constant threat from the Russian Federation: “Constant attacks, constant occupation, constant wars, threats, and so on. This is the reality of our part of Europe.”
“Personally, I believe that a weak Russia is in the interests of Poland. And here I do not agree with everyone who says that we need a great Russia that will control and keep the peoples of Asia in check. No. Those who are trying to conquer others must be pacified and restrained. The Russians must be restrained and pacified,” Duda said.
The ex-president of Poland added that “Russia must be punished for trying to realize its imperial ambitions at the expense of Ukraine, at the expense of hundreds of thousands of young Ukrainians and Ukrainian women who died at the front and were killed during this war.”
