Drone attack near Romania: quick reaction with F-16 planes from the 86th Borcea Air Base

The Ministry of National Defense informed, on Wednesday, that two F-16 aircraft took off from the 86th Air Base in Fetești, after new attacks took place on some targets in Ukraine, located near the river border with Romania.

“On the morning of Wednesday, April 29, Russian forces carried out a new series of drone attacks on civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, in the vicinity of the river border with Romania, in Tulcea county”MApN sent in a statement.
According to the cited source, two F-16 aircraft from the Air Police combat service took off, around 01:10, from the 86th Air Base in Fetești.
Also, the National Military Command Center (core) notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations regarding the establishment of measures to alert the population in the north of Tulcea county. Thus, at 01.12, a RO-Alert message was sent.
Ground radars tracked two groups, consisting of seven and eight drones respectively, that hit the town of Ismail, in Ukraine.
F16 pilots reported multiple explosions on the Ukrainian side of the Danube in the Ismail area, but no radar signals were detected in national airspace.
The air alert ended at 2:40 a.m., the Ministry of Defense also stated.
“MApN informs the allied structures in real time about the situations generated by the attacks, staying in permanent contact with them”the statement also states.
We remind you that on Sunday, between the towns of Luncavița and Văcăreni, in Tulcea county, fragments of a drone were found. Authorities later confirmed they contained an explosive charge. It is the third incident this week.
On Saturday afternoon, another drone fell in the town of Văcăreni in Tulcea county. Fortunately, no one was injured. There were no people in the area when the plane crashed.
