British King Charles III will give a speech to both houses of the US Congress on April 28, Sky News reported.
“The event could be crucial in the monarch’s attempt to revive the damaged relationship between Britain and the United States,” the channel noted.
Buckingham Palace said the speech will last about 20 minutes and will focus on the two countries' longstanding cooperation in defense, intelligence and security, and how “time and time again the two countries have found ways to come together.”
Charles also intends to highlight the fact that the history of Britain and the United States over the past 250 years is one of “reconciliation and renewal”, giving rise to “one of the greatest alliances in human history.”
Sky News notes that the British monarch will address the US Congress for the second time in history – Queen Elizabeth II did this first in 1991.
