Krasnoyarsk athletes successfully performed at international rafting competitions in the French city of Pau. According to the Ministry of Sports for the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the World Championship and the World Cup stage were held on the Gave de Pau River. Athletes from 45 countries took part in the competition.
The Krasnoyarsk Territory was represented by several teams in the Russian national team. Among them were “Ermak”, “Sputnik”, “Krasnoyarochka”, “Biryusinka” and the women’s team “Yeniseyushka”. Krasnoyarsk athletes also competed in mixed teams.
On the first day of the competition, Krasnoyarsk rafters won five medals in the sprint. The Yeniseyushka team became the silver medalist of the World Cup. At the world championship, “Krasnoyarochka” took gold, “Biryusinka” and “Sputnik” took silver, and the mixed team “Ermak-Biryusinka” won bronze.
On the second day, the athletes competed in the Raft Extreme discipline. “Yeniseyushka” won gold at the World Cup. At the world championship, Biryusinka took first place. Silver medals were received by Krasnoyarochka, Sputnik, Ermak and the mixed team under 24 years old.
On the third day of the competition, Krasnoyarsk athletes distinguished themselves in slalom. “Yeniseyushka” again became the first at the World Cup stage. At the world championship, “Krasnoyarochka” and “Sputnik” won gold, and the “Ermak” team received silver.
Let us remind you that rafting is rafting down the river on a special inflatable boat (raft). Typically, the team sits in a raft with oars and navigates a section of the river with fast currents, waves, rapids and turns. The athletes’ task is not just to swim to the finish line, but to do it quickly, follow the route correctly and not lose control of the boat.
