A criminal case was opened against a 19-year-old resident of Krasnoyarsk for insulting the religious feelings of believers.
According to the Investigative Committee, the suspect committed illegal actions in March of this year and filmed them on video, which he posted online. The footage shows how the young man expresses himself obscene language and insults icon with one of the Orthodox saints, and then contemptuously throws it on the floor of the car.
After the incident, the guy twice publicly apologized to the public for his action, calling it a big mistake, and promised not to do it again.
“Investigators of the Investigative Committee, in cooperation with employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Krasnoyarsk Territory, established the location of the suspect. The man was taken to the investigative department to carry out the necessary procedural actions with him,” the department reported today.

The Krasnoyarsk resident is charged with a crime under Part 1 of Art. 148 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public actions expressing clear disrespect for society, committed with the aim of insulting the religious feelings of believers). They can be punished for this a fine of up to 300 thousand rubles, or compulsory labor for a term of up to 240 hours, or forced labor for a term of up to one year, or imprisonment for the same period.
