In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, a man beat a friend to death with a pitchfork handle and hid from investigators for almost 18 years. This was reported to the Main Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee for the region.
In January 2008, the police duty station in the Ermakovsky district received a message that in the village of Nizhny Suetuk, the body of a 30-year-old man with injuries was found at the bottom of the pool of a livestock complex. Based on this fact, a criminal case was opened under Part 4 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, however, law enforcement officers were unable to find the culprit and other persons involved in the crime.
In April of this year, police officers and the Investigative Committee re-examined the criminal case materials, interrogated witnesses, obtained new significant information and ultimately detained a 64-year-old man.
It turned out that on the day of the tragedy the detainee was relaxing with his friends on the territory of the livestock complex. At some point, a serious conflict occurred between him and one of his fairly tipsy friends.

“The victim accused the accused of theft. The quarrel quickly escalated into a fight, during which the defendant stabbed the man in the head with the handle of a pitchfork, causing the victim to lose consciousness. The attacker then carried the man into the pool and fled the scene. The victim died from his injuries,” the Investigative Committee said.
The next day, the defendant returned to the scene and reported to law enforcement authorities about the discovery of the body, trying to divert suspicion from himself.
Under the weight of the evidence presented, the man confessed to his crime and demonstrated in detail the circumstances of what happened during the investigative experiment. Currently, the necessary investigative actions are being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the crime committed.
