France will help Greece in the event of a conflict with Turkey. This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron on April 24 during a speech at a panel discussion in Athens, the video was published by DRM News.
Answering a historical question related to the likely security challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean, Macron emphasized that Paris has already demonstrated support for Athens through bilateral cooperation, in particular during joint actions in 2021 and recent agreements with Cyprus.
“If your sovereignty is under threat, do what you have to do for yourself. We will be here,” he said.
Macron did not directly mention Turkey, but his statement came amid discussions about the security situation in the Eastern Mediterranean region, where Athens has traditionally strained relations with Ankara.
