A portion of the asphalt on Unirii Boulevard, in the center of Slobozia municipality, Ialomiţa county, collapsed during the day on Saturday, endangering traffic safety in the area.
According to the mayor of Slobozia, Alexandru Potor, crews of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) and law enforcement intervened on the spot to secure the perimeter and organize traffic so that the area is isolated and any incidents are prevented, reports Agerpres.
“The most likely cause is a failure of the sewage system, which led to the washing away of the earth and ballast infrastructure that supports the roadway. I thank the Fire crews who intervened first to avoid the dangers. The Local Police and the National Police organized the traffic to isolate the area and prevent any incidents. The Directorate of Public Domain Administration and the Urban water operator are currently evaluating the necessary measures for urgent repairs”, said the mayor Alexandru Potor in a post on his Facebook page.
The mayor urged citizens and traffic participants to drive carefully in the affected area and avoid the perimeter.
